Although not Isshinryu, the manner of fist formation is similar.

I wouldn't recommend striking with the thumb knuckle unless

you have trained for it and not much is said about placing the

thumb on top providing bio-mechanical strength in the wrist.


Nice 'stache though.

Kichiro Shimabuku, eldest son of the founder, arrived from Okinawa to judge kata competition.Upon his arrival, he received a letter from General Louis Wilson, Commandant of the United States Marine Corps.


It said in part,





"On behalf of all Marines and especially those who have been


touched by Master Shimabuku's influence, I take this opportunity


to express appreciation and respect for the conscientious


performance and service provided by Master Shimabuku."
