Kichiro Shimabuku, eldest son of the founder, arrived from Okinawa to judge kata competition.Upon his arrival, he received a letter from General Louis Wilson, Commandant of the United States Marine Corps.


It said in part,





"On behalf of all Marines and especially those who have been


touched by Master Shimabuku's influence, I take this opportunity


to express appreciation and respect for the conscientious


performance and service provided by Master Shimabuku."
